Woody Oven
Butternut squash and nduja... sweet and spicy. Some might say it's their new fave. Sometimes is good to break away from the normal tomato or white base and this recipe is perfect for just that. Butternut squash is loaded with Vitamin A, in fact one cup provides more than you need for the whole day! Though the skin is not as thin as a summer squash or Delicata, it is edible, and the seeds can be baked and eaten! We love butternut squash, this base can be combined with a multitude of other toppings, so feel free to experiment.
Pizza Dough Ball
½ Butternut Squash
4 Garlic Cloves
Olive Oil
1 Cup Vegetable Broth
80g Cubed Mozzarella
40g Ricotta
Nduja - To Taste
Place the butternut squash and garlic on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Roast for 30 minutes in a conventional oven for around 30 minutes.
Transfer into a food processor and blend, add the broth until the consistency is smooth.
Reference our guide on creating & stretching fresh pizza dough.
Place a small amount of the butternut squash sauce onto the middle of your pizza and use the back of your spoon to spread the sauce, whilst allowing an inch or so to form a crust.
Add your cheeses and nduja and cooking in the Woody Oven for 60-90 seconds until the pizza is cooked.
Finish with some basil and parmesan to taste.
